Klees: Education Announcement Adds up to
$930 Million Deception

(Queen’s Park) Oak Ridges MPP Frank Klees, the PC Education Critic, today accused the McGuinty Liberals of misleading the public when Education Minister Kathleen Wynn announced her government was investing $1 billion in 100 new schools at a media event today.

Klees pointed out that of the 1 Billion dollars announced, the government's investment amounts to only 7% of that, leaving the rest to be borrowed by school boards.

"This government's practice of intentionally misrepresenting its investments would be indictable in any other environment," charged Klees. "The ministry has clearly stated that this is a $1 billion investment by the government and today, the minister admitted that is not the case. In fact, school boards are being saddled with an additional $930 million of debt to backstop this government's fiscal mismanagement," said Klees.

"At some point, Ontarians will see through this government's addiction to spinning half truths and playing loose with the facts".
