Klees: A Good Start for GO

As recently as last month, Newmarket-Aurora MPP Frank Klees called on the Minister of Transportation to make increased GO Train service to Newmarket and Aurora a priority.

Today, it was announced that new train trips are being added on the Barrie GO Transit line that serves Newmarket and Aurora.

Starting in September, there will be one additional train trip on weekday mornings and one additional train returning from Union Station in the evening.

"This is a good start," said Klees, who has been calling on the McGuinty government to increase the frequency of GO Train service for Newmarket and Aurora for the past eight years. "If we want to address the north/south traffic congestion, we have to give people the option of taking transit."

"We won't even begin to solve our traffic congestion problems until we get the same level of service on our north/west GO Train lines as has existed on the east/west corridor for several years".
