Will the minister support a Public Inquiry? No answer! York Region CAS Funding Crisis Klees today brought the serious funding concerns of the YR Children’s Aid Society to the floor of the Ontario Legislature. Klees reminded Children’s Services Minister Laurel Broten, that 36 out of the 51 Children’s Aid Societies in the province are facing a funding crisis, and that the York Region CAS is in even more critical circumstances, because it is already receiving the lowest level of funding per unit of service in the GTA. To make matters worse, York Region CAS has been told that its budget will be cut by an additional $5.5 million. MTO Mismanagement of Highway Projects “The gross mismanagement of 401 service centres can only be described as incompetence at its worst. To shut down service centres along this province’s busiest highway, with no alternative provided for travellers’ comfort—to rest and to refuel—is beyond comprehension. Uninsured Drivers Targeted by PC Transportation Critic Klees tabled a resolution in the legislature that calls on government to implement an information technology system that will allow licensing agencies and front-line police to determine whether an auto insurance policy is valid.
